HANNAH LIM

With a background in sculpture, painting, and installation art, Hannah Lim explores the intersection of cultures and how these connections shape objects, artworks, and architecture. Influenced by her mixed British and Singaporean heritage, her work is rooted in storytelling, tradition, and cultural exchange. She has exhibited internationally in cities including New York, Tokyo, Milan, Shanghai, and Miami, while also leading to collaborations with brands such as Apple and Bvlgari.

HANNAH'S CLASS

ENCHANTED BOXES

Step into a world of sculptural storytelling, mythology, and mixed materials.

Hannah Lim invites you to create an enchanted sculptural box combining casting materials with polymer clay. You will begin with a short introduction to Hannah’s artistic practice and approach, exploring the themes, stories, and cultural references that inspire her work, and then you will be encouraged to dive into creatures, plants, and motifs that relate to mythology in your own culture.

From interesting material combinations to decorative elements, you will develop a unique box that carries its own character, symbolism, and atmosphere. This class is both technical and imaginative, giving you the opportunity to understand how artistic research and personal inspiration can shape the work we make, while creating a refined functional artwork that can eventually lead to more ambitious pieces or jewellery.

HANNAH'S ARTWORK

While Hannah creates large-scale public sculptures and installations, she also works on a more intimate scale through intricately sculpted objects. She first discovered polymer clay at the age of thirteen, creating miniature charms and tiny sculptural pieces, before returning to the material after graduating university. Over the past several years, she has developed a distinctive body of work focused on highly detailed sculptural forms rich in texture, symbolism, and craftsmanship.

Much of Hannah’s recent work revolves around sculpted tiles and her Snuff Bottles series, inspired by traditional Chinese snuff bottles often found in museum collections across the United Kingdom. These works frequently feature mythical creatures drawn from Chinese and Medieval mythology, blending historical references with intricate detail, layered cultural narratives, and refined surface work.
